Star Fish Inter-Faith Food Pantry

The Star Fish Inter-faith Food Pantry is a group of volunteers from Plainfield and the surrounding area who belong to a tax exempt, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.  Their name is a combination of the Judaic Star of David and the Christian fish symbol.  They operate three days each week throughout the year, preparing and distributing grocery food orders to an average of thirty to thirty-five families in need each week.   Families are referred to them through the office of temporary assistance (welfare office/social services).

They also prepare special food orders for 160 families at Easter, Thanksgiving, and at Christmas. The generosity of donors helps them make these meals special with food that is appropriate for each holiday.

St. Andrew's acts as an on-going collection point for donations of non-perishable food, full size toiletries and baby care items.  Every Thanksgiving, the parishioners make cash donations to "feather the turkey" poster.  These funds are used to buy turkeys which are transported to the pantry by volunteers.
